The Special Parliamentary Committee of Public Sector Reform & Services had its first public hearing this afternoon at the parliament house.
Chairman of the committee & Goroka Mp Bire Kimisopa made it known that the hearing was a result of the tabling of the health management report 2013 of which was tabled by the health minister in parliament but was inadequate as it did not portray the true situation regarding health delivery in the country.
"As a result the committee went on a fact finding mission to various provinces to conduct inspections into health facilities and found that health centers have not received expected funds allocated to them by the government," said Mr Kimisopa.
"As a result of the Committee visists to [provinces such as New Ireland, West New Britain, Morobe, Eastern Highlands, Western Highlands and Western Province, and interim reports on health management was prepared by the committee to be tabled in parliament but due to the political situations this years it was not tabled but we should do so next year when parliament resumes in march 2016," said Mr Kimisopa.
The Committee has set aside a full week starting today to interview health professionals and investigate the state of health management in the country and they have begun with Western Province this afternoon. PNGFM
