Oro Provincial Works awating funds to kick start work

The Oro Provincial Works Manager John Puri says that Provincial Works Office currently has no funds to conduct repairs and construction works on the broken bridges in the province. It would need an estimated K800, 000 to fix up damages.
He said the management is currently having meetings to find ways to address issues relating to the aftermath of this destruction and it will need the support of everyone concerned, including stakeholders.
Meanwhile he says they will construct wet crossings for the time being to allow cars and trucks to cross over Girua and Aijo bridges which connects Girua Airport and Popondetta town and Oro Bay.
Flights have also been cancelled at this stage to the GIRUA AIRPORT, Popondetta.
Governor for Oro, Gary JUFFA flew to Popondetta this morning to survey damages to bridges, confirming that 7 bridges were washed away.
He says their primary focus now is to restore health and education services which are important.
