Over the past few years there have been widespread allegations of cheating in examinations across the country, many parents have raised their concerns along with stakeholders in the education system as to the credibility and integrity of the examination process which has affected students coming through the education system.
Education Minister Hon. Nick Kuman said “as a result of the public concern about the examination process the government had a duty to find a solution and we have done this by appointing and an independent examination investigation and review team on the national examination within the Education system”.
The examination and investigation review team will be headed by former education secretary Dr Musawe Sinabare, George Bopi, Peter Baki, Dr Arnold Kukari, Ms Priscilla Kare representing NGO’s and women and rounding off the team John Kama who complements the team as the IT specialist.
Minister Kuman concluded by indicating that reforms had been done in curriculum and the Education Plan currently been reviewed however nothing has been done on the national examination in the last 40 years and a review of this process and certification should give further findings to improve the quality control mechanisms in the delivery of Education as a product, and why cheating has become an issue.
The examination and investigation review team has 4 weeks to come up with its findings on the examination processes before presenting the report back to the Minister for Education.
