Komo-Margarima Election results trigger tension
An earth moving machinery belonging to Hides Gas was torched and a light vehicle hijacked by locals from Komo Gas Field in frustration over the results of the Komo-Margarima Open Seat.
Hela Provincial Police Commander Superintendent Michael Welly has confirmed the incident and says a heavy machinery was torched and a light vehicle was also taken by angry supporters of a losing candidate for the Komo Magarima open seat.
They mobilized and burnt down the machine and went on a rampage at the company's camp site.
PPC Welly says police can't be deployed at the site to quell the situation and the situation is very tense at the PNG LNG project site.
