Australian Federal Police refurbish Port Moresby Police Station
THE AUSTRALIAN Federal Police has stepped in to help refurbish the Waigani Police Station in the National Capital District under the PNG-Australia Policing Partnership.
Commander NCD/Central Acting Assistant Commissioner Anthony Wagambie Jr and officers from Australian Federal Police inspected the Waigani Police Station last week. A scoping of the refurbishment in currently underway with actual maintenance work set to commence shortly.
Mr Wagambie took time to talk to police personnel stationed at the Waigani Police Station where he urged them to embrace the changes that were soon to come and improve discipline, work ethics and performance.
Mr Wagambie said under these proposed changes spearheaded by the PNG-Australia Policing Partnership program, the Constabulary’s management will transform Waigani first and eventually roll out the program to other stations throughout the National Capital District. He said more updates will be made known to the public through the media as and when these changes are being undertaken.
Mr Wagambie said the intent is to transform the Waigani Police Station and make it a model police station and a station of excellence as envisioned by Police Minister Bryan Kramer on the floor of parliament. He said the RPNGC Management has taken seriously into consideration Minister Kramer’s commitment on the floor of the National Parliament for the Constabulary to undergo sweeping changes and reforms.
