PNG Governor-General Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae and Lady Emeline Tufi Dadae Expresses Concern about Tonga
Papua New Guinea Governor-General, Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae and Lady Emeline Tufi Dadae have expressed concern for the people of Tonga, following the eruption of an underwater volcano that occurred on an island off the coast of Nuku’alofa last Friday.
Lady Emeline who comes from the Kingdom of Tonga says she is concerned about the safety and well being of the people of Tonga, as well as the royal family, the Royal Highnesses the King and Queen of Tonga, and her family following this latest development.
She says with the tsunami having occurred in Tonga, it has caused anxiety and fear as it would for anyone in a similar situation.
However, Lady Emeline says she is encouraged by posts on social media of Papua New Guineans expressing concern and support for their friends and loved ones in Tonga adding, she is also praying for peace, strength and courage for the people of Tonga.
Meantime, a tsunami warning was issued for all of Tonga and Samoa over the weekend.
Video footages posted on social media show waves crashing into homes along the coast of Nuku’alofa, as residents fled to higher grounds.
