The new barracks are expected to contribute to an increase in police numbers in PNG, thereby enhancing essential policing services for communities nationwide.
Commissioner of Police, David Manning, Assistant Commissioner of the PNG Australia Policing Partnership, Jamie Strauss, and Governor of Western Highlands, Wai Rapa, have inaugurated the commencement of construction on the Western Highlands project. This project aims to provide accommodation for graduates of the recruit training program at the Bomana Centre of Excellence in Port Moresby.
Both Australia and PNG have expressed satisfaction with their robust policing partnership and their joint efforts to work closely with provincial governments in delivering vital projects like these.
Australia reaffirms its commitment to standing alongside PNG every step of the way to ensure that law enforcement agencies can effectively maintain safety and security across communities in PNG. This collaboration underscores the enduring bond between the two nations in safeguarding the welfare of their citizens.
