4 dead in plane crash near Port Moresby

A Hevi-lift aircraft has crashed on the outskirts of  Port Moresby  just near Goldie area in Port Moresby North West this morning. The PNG Air Services Control Tower Co-ordinator was able to confirm these details to reporters in Port Moresby . 
Two passenger and two expatriate two pilots have died in the crash.

 The bodies of those who died are being transported into Port Moresby by road. 



Sources say the aircraft had seven passengers onboard, including the crew.

Police, Air Safety investigators and a rescue team from Hevi Lift who owned the aircraft were at the scene shortly after the crash was reported.

Police have secured the area and an investigation is expected to commence immediately.

The Twin Otter was travelling to Port Moresby from Woitape in the Goilala District, Central Province when it met its fate.

Air Traffic Control decline to comment except to promise a situation report was being prepared.
