Is Don Polye after PM's Post?

The Triumph Heritage Empowerment Party brought second highest number to Prime Ministers O'Neill's PNC Party for the formation of current government. O'Neill blessed Polye and his party with Deputy PM posts and other senior ministerial portfolios.

This party marriage did not last long after Polye and his THE party  was sacked by O'Neill. So now, what is Polye after?

Flash back

Mr Don Polye is the man behind formation of many governments. For instance, in previous Somare's government, Polye held many key positions and played vital roles in many government decisions. He held senior potfolio in that government. He was also the deputy Prime Minister.  But why did Polye overthrow  Somare Government? Interesting question isn't it? Polye's aim in giving away the Prime Minister Leaderships to Somare eventhough he brought highest number of MPs from the Highlands after the 2012 election was that he thought, Somare would hand over the leadership to him after he (Somare) retired from politics. However, later on. Somore favoured Poly's younger brother  in Sam Abal.  He blessed Abal and told Polye to bow down to Abal and follow his orders which Polye did not compromise that easily.  Polye's dream of becoming Prime Minister faded as Abal came into power.

But Polye's hunt for PM did not stop there. He gathered his highlands NA MPs  and marched over to Sir Mekere for his blessings and support. By then Belden Namah was the opposition leader and he was the option for the Prime Minister.   Polye and Mekere then invited Namah for discussion. In a secret heated discussion at Mekere's residence, Mekere and Polye could not bless Namah as PM because he had no numbers. Polye raised his hand up for the post but Namah and Mekere decided that Polye's turn of becoming PM was on the pipeline. Their interest was to look for a person who can not talk, who is shy and naive to become caretaker PM and form the government. They found this in Peter O'Neill and blessed him as PM.

Peter O'Neill from nowhere among the crowd of MPs in Merekere's residence was asked to become PM and he accepted it right away. Namah become the deputy prime minister while Polye got senior portfolio.

The 2012 election was around the corner and this was the right time for Polye to get the PM post. He then formed the THE Party.

After the 2012 election, Polye had won second highest number of seats throughout the country but this was not enough. His aim of becoming PM was elapsing.  He needed support.  He sat up camp in  Kokopo for any possible support. However, no political party or MPs supported him. He felt neglected and abandoned. He quickly gathered his troops (MPs) and marched over to O'Neill to form  the government.

On the other hand, Namahs, camp was calling on Polye to team up but he refused this call.

Polye's dream of becoming PM diminished dramatically as he was in the government. He looked for ways to get out of the government.  He started revolting against major government decisions and eventually O'Neill kicked him out of government.

Poyle needs to get Opposition Leadership

If Mr. Polye needs to become PM one day, he needs to get the Opposition leadership. It is an uphill battle as Belden Namah and his deputy Sam Basil are all after the PM posts.

Will Namah easily give away Opposition Leadership?
I do not think so? Namah is well known in PNG because he is the Opposition leader and debates on critical government decisions.

So how will Poly get PM post?

The only way for Polye to get the PM post is by becoming Opposition leader. Today the Triumph Heritage Empowerment (THE) Party would like to move to the opposition but THE Party demands the restructure of the opposition.  In the words, the opposition leader must be someone else  and not Belden Namah. It can be ascertained that the THE Party wants the Opposition leadership before THE party can join the Oppostion. I can say that  when Mr Polye moves to the Opposition, he is likely to be followed by "his team" which include Mark Maipakai (Kikori), Philip Undialu (Koroba-Lake Kopiago), Julie Soso (Eastern Highlands), Wera Mori (Chuave) and Benjamin Poponawa (Tambul-Nebilyer), Mr Mori the vice-minister for Mining and Mr Poponawa the Labour and Industrial Relations Minister in the current government.

This means that Belden Namah and Sam Basil have no choice but relinquish the Opposition leadership to Don Polye and his party.

Of course  Don Polye is after PM's Post.
