Angry wives attack Santa in PNG

TWO men playing the Christmas roles of Santa Claus by greeting children and distributing gifts were attacked by their angry wives when they arrived home in Madang, Papua New Guinea.
Wife Priscilla Tomongo said in Madang that she became angry when watching her husband’s behaviour in public.
She said she did not like that her husband was blowing kisses before throwing lollies around to the crowd.
She said she bit one of his fingers when he returned home. The wife of the second Santa Claus attacked him while he was about to enter the Children’s Ward at Modilon Hospital.
She said she was furious when he failed to answer her “important” phone call regarding the death of a family member.
Both men could not be reached for comments.
Madang provincial police commander Sylvester Kalaut said the festivities over the weekend were however generally quiet, something totally unexpected. Many attended church services and the traditional family gatherings, exchanging of gifts and carol singing.
The few who stayed out and misbehaved spent their Christmas night at the Jomba police station cell.
Madang MP Nixon Duban appealed to town residents, especially those living in Transgogol and Ambenob LLGS, to celebrate responsibly. PNG Today/ The National
