PNG Prime Minister Marape wants Australian Aid in government priorities

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Mr Marape says he wants to see Australia continue its aid program in the country in support of his government's priorities.

He says the PNG-Australia partnership has been longstanding, and he would want similar ongoing support into areas where the government has its priorities.

"In terms of aid we appreciate the sort of aid they've always been giving us.

"We have our priorities. So long as they park their aid consistent with our national plans and national budgets.

"In my memory, in the last few years they've responded very well and partnering us and that's the way we want it.

"We have our own plans and so long as their budget support is congruent to our plans."
