PNG Govt Enacts ICAC bill, passes Whistle Blowers Act
Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape says his government successfully completed a Parliament Inquiry into Health Corruption with referrals for prosecution, ensured the Enactment of ICAC Bill and passed Whistle Blowers Act.All these were done during the first 12 month of the Marape – Steven Government.
As the government celebrated its first Anniversary on Friday the 29th of May Marape reported his government’s performance
Marape told reporters that they also ensured the appointments of Corruption fighters into Bureaucracy and political positions
He also says that the government also worked ton having the Return of Porgera Gold Mine to PNG after mining development lease (SML) agreement expiry.
“Resource law amendments were made to optimize economic returns and equal benefit sharing between Land Owners, Provincial Government and State.” He added
Apart from that the Prime Minister said his government honored the Bougainville peace Agreement and allowed the Bougainville people to vote for the referendum successfully.
On the 12th of March 2020 Prime Minister Marape and President Chief John Momis jointly chaired a Joint Supervisory Body meeting in Port Moresby discussing 12 agendas that included the transfer of BCL shares and transfer of powers on Fisheries, taxation, land matters and financial matters and powers and functions in the spirit of the 2001 Peace Agreement
