PNG Hunters come from behind to bury Ipswich Jets 40 - 22
The SP PNG Hunters displayed a second half fight back to bury Ipswich Jets 40 - 22 at the 'Grave yard' to keep their final hopes alive.
Despite some ridiculous refeering and Hunters trailed 20 - 10 at half time, the boys kept cool in the second half.
The Hunters in one of the best defensive game, kept Jets scoreless in the secondy half.
This was a the most important match of the day especially for Hunters. They needed to win this one to stay in touch with the top five.
Jets came in pretty fired up and wanted to end Hunters season. As the tussle wore on Jets maintained their pressure.
Whatever coach Michael Marum said during the break it obviously worked because Hunters were the first to score in the second half.
Five minutes to go and Hunters were leading 28-22. It seemed as the inevitable was going to happen.
But it wasn’t to be – Hunters stood their ground to deny Jests counter attack. Hunters scored in the remaining meets to seal the win and send Jest home more worried now.
This also the final home game for the PNG Hunters. PNGs will play fourth placed Manly Seagulls next week.
